Obituary

WINDSOR, Vt. ? David T. Lull, 90, passed away Sunday morning, March 2, 2003, at his daughter's home in Wayne, Maine. He was born in Rutland, Jan. 12, 1913, the son of Thomas C. and Caroline (Hale) Lull. He received his early education in Windsor and Cape Cottage; Maine; and Balboa, Panama Canal Zone; and he graduted from Windsor High School in 1931. He graduated from the University of Maine with a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1936. Following his graduation he worked briefly for the Ascutney Cemetery Association in Windsor. In November 1936 he became employed at the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. in Windsor, in the Shoe Products Division as laboratory supervisor. He married Ella A. Bowen on May 30, 1940 in Claremont, N.H. They moved to Windsor in 1940. In February 1941 he became development compounder for Goodyear, then chief compounder, and soon after, chief chemist. He retired in January 1978. Mr. Lull served on the Board of Trustees of Mount Ascutney Hospital and Health Center in Windsor for nine years, serving as treasurer for three years, and as president for three years. He served as an incorporator for the hospital for 25 years. He had been a member of the Windsor Country Club since 1938, in which he served as treasurer of the club board on two occasions. He greatly enjoyed outdoor activities. He enjoyed downhill skiing, gardening, fly fishing, hunting and swimming. He was an avid bridge player for more than 65 years. Mrs. Lull passed away in December 1997. Survivors include two daughters, Jean B. Palmer of Bradford, N.H., and Joan M. Shapiro of Wayne; and two grandsons, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter. A graveside memorial service will be held in July in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor. Arangements are in the care of Knight Funeral Home.
