AUGUSTA - Dianne Elizabeth Blair, 65, passed away July 2, 2010, at her home in Augusta. She was born Jan. 6, 1945, the daughter of Ralph and Virginia Blair of Vassalboro. She was a 1963 graduate of Winslow High School. After graduation, she attended Grasslands School of Practical Nursing in Valhalla, N.Y. She furthered her nursing studies and graduated from Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y., in 1976 and received her New York State Registered Professional Nursing License the same year. Throughout Dianne's nursing career she worked at New York Hospital -- Cornell Medical Center and Burke Rehabilitation Center, both in White Plains, N.Y. She also provided care at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla. After returning to Maine, Dianne served her community as a dedicated volunteer at MaineGeneral Medical Center, formerly Kennebec Valley Medical Center, in Augusta for more than 19 years. Besides volunteering her services, Dianne enjoyed journaling, trips to New York and many trips to the ocean for lobster and clams. Dianne was predeceased by her parents; an infant twin sister; and her brothers, Arnold and Paul Anthony Blair. Dianne is survived by her sisters, Dr. Jeanne Wyns and her husband, Dr. David Wyns, of East Providence, R.I., and Carol Farris and her husband, Earl, of Augusta; her brothers, Thomas Blair and his wife, Rita, of Mount Desert Island and Ralph Blair Jr. and his companion, Lynn Fletcher, of Hartford, Conn. Although Dianne did not have children of her own, she was very fond of her nieces and nephews including David Wyns Jr., the Rev. Jonathan Wyns, Mary (Wyns) Cabral, Jacqueline Farris, Shane Farris, Shannon (Farris) Powell, Bonnie (Blair) Chandler, Kelly (Blair) Brann, Darren Blair, Shawn Blair and Corey Blair and Carolyn Leighton. There will be a graveside service at Nichols Cemetery at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 31, on the Oak Grove Road in North Vassalboro.
