WHITEFIELD - Donald Lewis Crochere, 42, of Whitefield, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Augusta March 6, 1968, the son of Marie Crochere Groleau and was later adopted by Norman Sr. and Mary Crochere. Donny grew up in the Augusta area and attended St. Mary's School. He enjoyed life to the fullest. He loved fishing and camping and never missed a chance to celebrate life. He enjoyed going to Hollywood Slots in Bangor but, his greatest joy came from spending time with his loved ones. Donny was a lobster boat stern man for several years on Vinalhaven and also worked as a delivery driver for Velocity, out of Westbrook. Donald was predeceased by his father, Norman Crochere Sr.; his mother, Mary Crochere; his nephew, Dominic Andrews; cousin, Lisa Williams, Eunice 'Gram' Noyes, and his stepfather, Albert Groleau. He is survived by his fianc?e, Violet Knox, of Jefferson; her children, Shannon Poulin and her companion, Cory and their children, Connor and Logan who called him 'Bampy', and Ronald Hinckley, Jr. of Waterville; his brothers, Louie Crochere and his wife, Barbara, of Casper, Wyo., and Norman Crochere and his wife, Paula, of Pownal; his sisters, April Groleau, of Augusta, Valida Coline Tillson and her husband, Walter, of Windsor, Michelle Brann and her husband, Don, of West Gardiner, Teresa Smith and her husband, Jim, of Vassalboro along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Donny was once described as an eagle, who could not be caged. Now he can truly take flight and soar. Relatives and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
