Dora
Bernier
Sep 2, 1915 — Oct 10, 2001
BANGOR–Dora D. Bernier, 86, wife of the late Roger O. Bernier, died peacefully Oct. 10, 2001. Dora was born in Winthrop, September 2, 1915, the daughter of Philip and Marion (LaVallee) Fleury. Dora was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Bangor. She devoted her life to her family and took special pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed time spent with her craft club friends, the Knit Wits. She had a great love of the outdoors and found great joy in feeding and watching the birds in her yard with her new friend, Sylvia Mercier, as well as fun times spent camping with Ellen and Maynard Gifford. She found great comfort in her spiritual beliefs, and in her later years, deeply appreciated visits from her dear friend, Raynette Boyington, who joined her in prayer at the time of her declining health. Dora will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by many family members and friends, including one son, Roland Bernier, and his wife, Patricia, of Winthrop; one daughter, Barbara Corson, and her husband, David Wheelock, of Bangor; grandsons, Mark Corson, of Bangor, Timothy and Christopher Bernier, both of Winthrop, Shawn Bernier, and his wife, Kim, of Wayne, and Benjamin Bernier, of Texas; granddaughter, Michelle Rice and her husband, David, of Orrington; and great-grandchildren, Ashley and Cassandra, of Wayne, Mark Corson and Kalee LePage, of Kenduskeag. She was recently predeceased by a grandson, Todd Bernier, of Winthrop. She is also survived by one sister, Olive (Toolee) Smith, of Wilton, and many nieces and nephews. A service of remembrance will be held at 4 P.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop. Relatives and friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at a later date.
