AUGUSTA - Dora Mae Stephens, 84, of Augusta died Saturday, Jan. 24, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born May 14, 1919, in Vassalboro, the daughter of Frank and Lena (Ames) Robinson. She grew up in Vassalboro and was a 1937 graduate of Erskine Academy. Dora met her husband, Theodore, while they were both playing music. They were married in 1939. She spent several years raising her family, and after they were all grown she worked at Hallowell Shoe and later at HealthTex. She also did dressmaking for a time. In her spare time, Dora enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and playing the piano. Mrs. Stephens was predeceased by her husband, Theodore W. Stephens; her son, Theodore C. Stephens; and a brother, Raymond Robinson, and his wife, Ruth. She is survived by a son, Richard M. Stephens and his wife, Felicia, of Auburn; a daughter, Karolyn Marston and her husband, Barry, of Augusta; two daughters-in-law, Marilyn Stephens and Joanne Stephens; six grandchildren, Richard W. Stephens and his wife, Linda, Laurie Webb and her husband, Todd, Debbie Rado and her husband, Angelo, Theodore F. Stephens and his wife, Janice, Caron Durgin and Meghan Marston; close friends Oliver and Conchita Larrabee and Gladys Larkin; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nine nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 28.
