AUGUSTA - Dorothy K. Pinette, 81, of Riverside Drive, went home to her loving Jesus on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center after a brief but aggressive-type illness. Dottie lived her life in an extremely kind, generous and loving way. It's the life most would love for themselves. Dottie always put the needs of others ahead of herself and endeared many people by doing so. Her lists of charities were endless. Dottie was born in Augusta in 1928, the middle child of William E. and Ivy S. Pinette. She graduated from Cony High School in 1946 and began work for the state of Maine's Industrial Accident Commission. After seven years, she moved to Syracuse, N.Y., for a brief time with General Electric Co. before moving to the Washington, D.C., area to work for American Airlines as a reservationist. Dottie worked for more than 30 years for the airlines until her retirement in 1986. She received many company awards for outstanding performance. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Elizabeth A. Pinette, formerly of Scarborough. She is survived by a brother, William E. Pinette Jr. of Augusta. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Burial will occur in the Holy Family Cemetery, Augusta.
