WINTHROP -- Dorothy Trial, 88, of Winthrop Center Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at her home. She was born in Dalton, Conn., on Nov. 11, 1924, the daughter of the Rev. Ralph Timberlake Sr. and Mae (Hatheway) Timberlake. Dorothy graduated from Boston University and later from Cambridge Hospital School of Nursing. She had work for many years as a registered nurse at Mass General, where she became one of the first nurse anesthetists. She was in the Cadet Nurses Corps during World War II. She later moved to Portland to take a job at Maine Medical Center. On May 22, 1963, she married Lucius J. Trial. Together, they raised and showed horses in their earlier years. They moved to Winthrop in 1971 and built Timbertrail Campground on Route 135. After the death of her husband on March 19, 1978, Dorothy sold the campground and continued her nursing career at Kennebec Valley Medical Center until her retirement in 1987. She enjoyed going out to dinner, visiting the Maine coast and reading. She was predeceased by three brothers: William, James and Ralph Timberlake. She is survived by a granddaughter, Deneige 'Dennie' Blaisdell, and her husband, Richard, of Winthrop; stepdaughter Dorothy Pickens, of Greene; great-granddaughter Amy Blaisdell-Pechmanova and her husband, Joe, of Lewiston; also several nieces and nephews. At Dorothy's request, there will be no visiting or services. She will be buried in the Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
