WARREN – Earl Howard Drown, 71, passed away June 11, 2022, after family said their goodbyes at Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center in Winthrop. Born Nov. 18, 1950, son of the late Vera and Raymond Drown of Rockland. After graduating from Rockland District High School in 1970, he began his chef career at Knox County Hospital as a pot and pan worker. In 1975, he transferred to Pen Bay Medical Center as a cook, then in 1985 transferred to Knox Long Term Care as the Dietary Director. He was well known as a great chef, and even had his own private catering business for weddings, parties, and other events. Earl married his first wife, Yvonne Pinkham, in 1976 and raised two children, Janelle Rene' and Jared Raymond in Thomaston and Hope. In 2004, Earl married Amy Turner. They shared a home in Warren with their many fur babies. Earl was very involved in his community. He served as a volunteer Firefighter, Ambulance Assistant Director and as a Deacon at the Federated Church, all in Thomaston. He was a Rockland Elk of 1008, a member of the Knox County Fish & Game, a 4-H leader specializing in shooting sports, and a Trustee of the Union Fair, where he served as the first Vice-President on the board. Earl also enjoyed coaching T-Ball and Little League and being a Boy Scout Tiger Leader. Earl loved telling jokes and could always make you smile and laugh. He enjoyed camping, playing cribbage and cards, and later in life cuddling with his cats and pups. Earl was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws, and his nephew. He is survived by his wife, Amy Drown of Warren, his children, Janelle Tompkins and her husband, Benjamin of Oakland, Jared Drown and his partner, Miranda Simmons of Union, his first wife, Yvonne Drown-Miller and her husband, Maurice of Hope, his brother, Lester Drown and his wife, Michele of S. Portland, his sister, Eugenia Drown of Thomaston, his sister-in-law, Lisa Mcdonald and her husband, Scott of Rockland, his sister-in-law, Lu-Ann Hyler and her husband, Buddy of Thomaston, his brother-in-law, Timothy Pinkham of Thomaston, his grandchildren, Arianna Cloutier, Tyler Tompkins, Alyson Tompkins, Madelyn Drown, and Zoey Drown, as well as several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Earl's life will be held at a later date. Earl's family would like to thank Heritage Rehabilitation and Living Center for taking wonderful care of him these last few years. He loved and appreciated the staff.
