Obituary

PORTLAND---On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Edward Clark Bean, loving husband and father of three, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at the age of 70. Ed was born on February 10, 1951 in Augusta, ME to Charles & Sara Bean. He was raised in Sidney, ME in a hard-working farm family. He attended West Sidney Baptist Church. He graduated from Messalonskee High School in 1969, and graduated from the Bible Institute of New England in St. Johnsbury, VT in 1972, where he met the love of his life. Ed and Donna (Stone) were married July 10, 1971, and just enjoyed a beautiful 50th Wedding Anniversary party together with family & friends. Over the years they built their farm in Bernardston, MA raising purebred Arabian horses among other animals. He faithfully attended North Leverett Baptist Church for 20 years. Ed was a skilled heavy equipment operator, and also had jobs working as a logger, sawyer, and a mason. He worked part-time for his Father-in-Law Wilton Stone at his sawmill, at Puffer Construction with Brother-in-Law Paul Stone, Montague Machine, Millers Falls Tool, a mason in PA and then for a long time for Brother-in-Law Ed at Stoney's Excavating. In 1999 they moved to Sidney, ME and built their homestead and farm where they enjoyed 22 years together. Ed worked at Ray Labbe & Sons and most recently for Ranger Contracting. Ed was most passionate about his family and loved working in any capacity with his boys. They bought a sawmill that they enjoyed putting in many hours at. He was a hardworking man his whole life and it has been said that Ed had the most hours logged on an excavator in the state. He is known for his good New England humor, his generous ways, and his kind & gracious spirit. Ed was pre-deceased by his parents, Son-in-Law Michael W. Spencer, and Mother-in-Law & Father-in-Law Mary & Wilton Stone, and Brother-in-Law Paul Stone. He is survived by his beloved wife & best friend Donna, his 3 cherished children, Michael, Joshua (Laura) and Miranda Spencer. He also leaves 18 grandchildren who affectionately called him Bop, that he adored, Christoffer (Tristin) Kiera, Sarina, Alayna, Emilia, and Abigail, Ryan, Natalie, Danielle, Ethan, Paul, Keith, Titus, Gillies, and Tyler, Michael & Hope Spencer. His loved siblings, Ruth (Dave) Brendle, Calvin (Penny Stone) Bean, Charlene (Howard) Schwartz, In-laws- Ruth Stone, Ed (Lori) Stone, Brenda (Laurey Kenerson) Stone, Norma (Tim) Hunting, as well as 24 loved nieces and nephews and their families.
