AUGUSTA - Elaine Vivian Cormier, 81, of Augusta died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2008, at her home. She was born in Augusta Jan. 27, 1927, the daughter of Carroll and Helen (Dawbin) Liscomb. She grew up in Augusta and attended Augusta schools. At an early age, she went to work at Hudson Pulp and Paper, later Statler Tissue, where she worked until her retirement 45 years later. Elaine enjoyed bowling and painting in her spare time. She took an art course, later in life, and completed many paintings after that. She also loved taking trips to the ocean, with her friends, to enjoy the beauty of the Maine coast. Mrs. Cormier was predeceased by her former husband, Harold W. Cormier; her brother, Carlton Liscomb; and her sister, Noreen O'Born. She is survived by her son, James Cormier, of Chelsea; her brothers, Richard Liscomb and his wife, Alta, of Hallowell, and Kenneth Liscomb and his wife, Martha, of Topsham; her sisters, Carol Clay, of California, and Shirley Jean Levesque and her husband, Russell, of Sabattus; along with several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St. in Augusta. Relatives may visit at the funeral home from noon until service time.
