Obituary

WINTHROP - Eleanor Riley Bisson, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 2004 at her home on Bowdoin Street. She was born in Winthrop on June 1, 1914, the daughter of Raymond C. and Bertha O. (Bragg) Riley. Ellie graduated from Winthrop High School, class of 1932, and married Lawrence Bisson in 1939. She was employed as a telephone operator for Lewiston-Greene-Monmouth Telephone Co., ran 'V' stores in Hallowell and clerked at Wilson's Dollar Store and LaVerdiere's, both in Winthrop. Ellie was a member of the Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. Post 40 Ladies' Auxiliary and past president of Business Professional Women. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence; a son, Raymond Lawrence Bisson; and three sisters, Madeline Leighton, Irma Schofield and Natalie Perkins. Survivors include her son, Stephen Bisson of Southport, N.C.; her daughter, Linda Bisson MacDonald of Winthrop; two nieces, Natalie Weise of Brookfield, Conn., and Diane Johnston of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop.
