Obituary

MOUNT VERNON ? Elton A. Bowler Sr., 72, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002. He was born in Winthrop, Aug. 11, 1930, the son of Elder Charles and Eunice Estella (Mann) Bowler. Elton was a hard worker all his life, raising a large family with 12 children. He was full of fun in his youth and had a wicked sense of humor throughout his lifetime. He was very friendly with his neighbors and was a man who loved hunting and the outdoors. His family, who couldn't have asked for a better father, and those closest to him, will miss him tremendously. He was predeceased by his four brothers, Elder Lee, Ernest Ray, Everett Charles and Elmer Miles Bowler; and three sisters, Estella May (Bowler) Endall, Emma Isabell (Bowler) Smith and Elsie Louise (Bowler) Buxton. He is survived by his four sons, Elton Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Augusta, Jerry Bowler and his wife, Rachel, of Monmouth, Terry Bowler and his wife, Nancy, of Sebastian, Fla., and Billy Bowler and his companion, Kelly Randall, of East Winthrop; his three daughters, Eunice St. Laurent and her husband, Andy, of Winthrop, Maxine Bowler and her companion, Harry Clark, of East Winthrop, and Rosemary Bowler and her companion, Glen Merrill, of Augusta; three stepdaughters, Linda Bolduc and her husband, Peter, of Augusta, Leona Swanson and her husband, Dan, of Pennsylvania, and Debbie Holt of Augusta; one sister, Edna Alwilda (Bowler) Wing; 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. A graveside service will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at Glenside Cemetery, Turkey Lane, Winthrop. Immediately following the service all are welcome to attend a gathering at Elton Sr.'s house on Wings Mills Road in Mount Vernon.
