EAST WINTHROP - Ernest F. Monck, 92, of East Winthrop, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at the Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn. He was born in Hoboken, N.J., Nov. 7, 1918, the son of Erich and Antonia (Stecher) Monck. He grew up in Bound Brook, N.J., and graduated from Bound Brook High School. He worked at Fisher Casting until he was drafted into the Army to serve during World War II. Monck married Elsie Yeager while he was in the service, and they had been married 64 years at the time of her death in 2008. Mr. Monck was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bound Brook, N.J., from his childhood until moving to Maine. After the war, Ernest returned to Fisher Casting and stayed there until they closed. He then went to work for Nateco until they closed. Ernest retired at that time and enjoyed his many hobbies. He and Elsie moved to Maine in 1996 to live with their daughter. Mr. Monck is survived by his daughter, Mary Meskers, and her husband, Robert, of East Winthrop; a granddaughter, Rebecca Meskers, of Portsmouth, N.H.; and several cousins in New Jersey. There will be no visiting hours or service at this time. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
