Obituary

WAYNE ? Evelyn Walton Randall, 84, of Wayne, died Saturday, April 13, 2002, at Nicholson's Long Term Care in Winthrop. She was born Aug. 23, 1917, in Wayne, the daughter of Winfred and Winnie (Warren) Walton. She attended Kents Hill School, graduating in 1934, and Bates College, graduating in 1938. Evelyn taught school in Caribou, where she met her future husband, Irving Randall. They were married Aug. 8, 1942, in Alexandria, La., just before Irving went off to war. After the war she and her husband lived in Connecticut, where Evelyn worked as a bookkeeper and secretary. She also volunteered, tutoring children with dyslexia, in the 1970s and 1980s. Mrs. Randall was a member of the Portland, Conn., Congregational Church, Wayne Community Church and North Wayne Church. Mr. Randall died in 1997 and Evelyn's brother, Warren Walton, died in 1979. Evelyn is survived by two sons, David Randall and his wife, Ellen, of Wayne, and James Randall and his wife, Lynn, of Westerly, R.I.; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Jamie, Nicholas and Vanessa Randall; two nieces, Lorna Doone (Walton) of Skowhegan and Vee Wood of Wayne, and one nephew, Robert Walton of Turner. A memorial service will be held at Wayne Community Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 20, with the Rev. Eric Dupee officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Nature Conservancy, Attn: Treasury, 4245 North Fairfax Drive, Suite 100, Arlington Va. 22203. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
