Everett "Sonny" F. Christie Jr. Obituary (1963

WHITEFIELD - Everett F. 'Sonny' Christie Jr., 51, of Whitefield, passed away with his loving wife by his side on July 3, 2015, at Maine Medical Center in Portland, from an extended illness. Everett was born in Gardiner on Aug. 2, 1963, to Everett F. and Eleanor Christie Sr. Everett graduated from Gardiner Area High School. Everett worked at BIW for 28 years until his illness. Everett was a member of the I.A.M. local 6 union, a lifetime member of the NRA and Bethlehem Lodge #35. Everett's proudest moments in life, other then the birth of his twin sons and marrying the love of his life on Nov. 29, 2014, was when he became a Master Mason and member of the Kora Shrine Temple and when he became a member of the Kora Mini Racers Unit, alongside his father-in-law. Everett enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars, collecting anything and everything, time spent with family and friends, especially his father-in-law in their 'errands and outings,' most of all the activities he was involved with for the Kora Shrine, whether it was pushing a button on an elevator or driving one of the mini racers go carts in a parade. Everett lived to put a smile on the face and a laugh in the hearts of others. Anyone that had the chance to meet Everett became his family. Everett is survived by his soul mate and best friend, his wife Annie L. Christie; his father Everett F. Christie Sr.; a sister Alyce Thornton and husband Peter; sons Ethan and Everett F. Christie III, a special stepdaughter Ariana Newman; a niece Amanda Mejia; two nephews Michael and Joseph Mejia; father-in-law and friend John H. Mellor, mother-in-law Regina A. Mellor; brother-in-law Dustin Mellor and his wife Brie; also several aunts, uncles; and cousins. Everett was predeceased by his mom Eleanor Christie; maternal and paternal grandparents; and several aunts, uncles; and cousins. The family would like to extend their love and appreciation to the staff at Kennebec Kidney Center in Augusta and all the nurses and doctors on CTICU at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Visiting will be held Friday, July 10, from 11-1 p.m. at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held following the visitation at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Jefferson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, Mass.
