AUGUSTA -- Florene N. Maass, 89, of Middle Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2011, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation at Glenridge. She was born in Springfield, Ark., on Jan. 27, 1922, the daughter of Charles and Zola (Maulding) Gouge. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Leslie Maass, who died Feb. 24, 2011. Florene is survived by her five children, Judy Alverson, and her husband, Jeff, of Luck, Wis., Linda Patela and her husband, Mark, of Augusta, Leslie P. Maass II and his wife, Mary, of Cincinnati, Ohio, Roberta Edwards of Bath, and Sherry Simmons and her fiance, Tim Buzzell, of Brunswick; also 13 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta.
