Obituary

1948 - 2022 MANCHESTER - Gary Lee Richard passed away peacefully in his home on the evening of February 24, 2022 with family by his side. Gary is now reunited with the love of his life, Carol, whom he was married to for 36 years and has spent every day for the past 12 years looking at their pictures and missing her dearly. Gary attended Hall Dale high school. Gary's prime occupation was swimming pool installation and service, but he could do everything and fix anything. Friends and family often referred to him as "MacGyver". He loved everything outdoors. He was a registered Maine guide. He spent his entire life hunting, fishing, four wheeling, camping and driving around Maine's back roads. He was an avid bowler as well. Gary is survived by his daughter Lisa Marie and children Jordan, Hannah, Alex, Rico and Karilynna, son Scott Richard and wife Crystal and their children Joshua and Tyler. Daughter Jacqueline and spouse Todd Kelly and her children Michael, Matthew, and John. Daughter Susan McLean and husband Andy, whom he also considered his son and their children Andy II and Haley. Gary left behind several great grandchildren as well. Gary left behind his brother John Collins and loving sister Barbara Gervais with whom he visited for morning coffee and conversation almost daily. Michael McCollett was a "son" to him as well and worked side by side with him for years. Mike Brochu and Daryl Drake, although not biological, were his brothers that he spent weeks with, in the woods and at camp doing what they loved most, Kevin McKenna, who was Gary's right-hand man and Sal Cirello and Ang and all the hours spent in the garage. Gary was predeceased by beloved granddaughter Loryn McCollett, His Mom and Dad Frank and Mary Laflin, Jeanne Harper, Joe Richard, David Laflin, John Laflin, Chuck Collins and Ruth Pirri. Lastly, Scottie Simonds who gave Gary the namesake "Papa" that would stick with us all until today. Gary's family would like to recognize Androscoggin Home Healthcare & Hospice for their exceptional and respectful care. There will be a celebration of life at White Flour Catering (Sportsmans Alliance of Maine) on Saturday March 12 at 1PM. 205 Church Hill Road. Augusta, Me.
