HALLOWELL - Gavin Belmont Smith, a beacon of kindness and dedication, concluded his earthly journey on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and a gaping hole in the hearts of all who knew him. Born on December 9, 1979, in Waterville, Maine, Gavin's spirit illuminated the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. He passed away at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta, Maine after a very short fight with aggressive, metastatic bile duct cancer (Cholangiocarcinoma).

Gavin’s memorial visitation will be held at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Care, One Church Street, Augusta, on Thursday, September 24th, from 1-2pm with a service commencing at 2pm at the same venue.
