AUGUSTA ~ Gerard J. Godbout, 75, of Augusta, died Wednesday November 9, 2016 at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta. He was born in Augusta, November 16, 1940 the son of Emile and Emilienne (Gosselin) Godbout. He attended schools in Augusta and went to work at Bates Manufacturing at a young age. He retired from Bates in 1978. Mr. Godbout was predeceased by his brother, Richard Godbout. He is survived by his wife, Rita (Douin) Godbout; his sons, David, Kenneth, Bruce, and Ricky Godbout; his daughter, Melissa Baker and her husband, Steve; grandchildren, Isaac, Seth, Taylor, Ashley, Lindsey, Travis, Kasey, and Megan, and great-grandchildren, Mckenzie and Chelsea. Relatives and friends may visit at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta, Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Mr. Godbout’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Greybirch for their care prior to his passing.
