Obituary

VASSALBORO- Gertrude "Trudy" E. Overlock, 88, passed away after a brief illness on July 23, 2023, at the Maine General, Augusta, Maine She was 1 of 9 children and was born in Waterville on June 29, 1935, to the late Eugene and Lovina (Cayouette) Overlock. Trudy graduated from Winslow High School in 1953 and went on to an art school in New York where she received college credits. After college, she worked in retail at Sterns Department store on Maine Street in Waterville, also at Burton Shiro's law office in Waterville, and she sang in various places, including Lakewood Theater in Skowhegan, Maine. She was chosen out of many applicants to be honored at a recognition banquet on May 9, 2023. She was recognized for her lifetime personal and professional accomplishments. This was presented during a celebration of Remember Me Photography Exhibit through MHCA ( Maine Health Care Association ) . Trudy loved spending time outdoors at the ocean as often as possible. She enjoyed nature's beauty. Her love of art indicated that. She had creativity beyond compare and was known for her beautiful artwork, well written poetry and her love for different instruments such as the French Horn, Piano, Organ, and Zither as well as many others. One of her favorite things to do was host Christmas carol gatherings as well as many other family gatherings at her home. In addition to her parents, Trudy is predeceased by 7 of her siblings, Aubert, Jean, Voilet, Daniel, Charles, Lindsay, and Kenneth. She leaves behind her brother Neil and wife Bonnie Overlock, Sister-in-law, Janice Overlock, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Pine Tree Camp in Rome, Maine. Per Trudy's request, there will be no services at this time.
