READFIELD ? Gladys S. 'Pat' Dow, 87, died Friday, Dec. 7, 2001, at Nicholson's Long Term Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winthrop. She was born in Gardiner, Sept. 16, 1914, the daughter of Jacob and Mary Jane (Watkins) Sears, and graduated from Gardiner High School, class of 1932, and married Norman R. Dow in Augusta, May 30, 1941. She was employed by the state of Maine until 1944, after which time she stayed home to raise her family. Pat loved to laugh, and she enjoyed dancing, flower gardening, doing crossword puzzles and playing beano. Norman and Pat also shared a very special interest and passion for horse racing. She was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Sears, and a sister, Marguerite Kelley. Pat is survived by her husband of 60 years, Norman Dow, of Readfield; her daughter, Susan Dow, of Winthrop; a brother, Franklin E. Sears, of Salem, N.H.; a nephew and niece, Robert Kelley, of West Gardiner, and Barbara Dow Nucci, of Naples, Italy; and a very special friend, Betty Veneziano, of Winthrop. Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Gardiner.
