Readfield – Gloria Mary (LeClair) Lucas, 90, passed away peacefully on February
16, 2026, surrounded by her family at Glenridge Nursing Facility in Augusta.
She was born on February 11, 1936, in Gardiner, Maine, the daughter of Paul and
Josephine (Clary) LeClair. Gloria graduated from Gardiner Area High School in
1954.
On April 28, 1956, she married Kenneth J. Lucas Sr. The two shared 56 years of
marriage until his passing in 2012.
Gloria was a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and a generous and loyal friend. She
was known for her strong will, kind heart, and unwavering dedication to her
family. She enjoyed knitting, baking, going for long walks, visiting with neighbors
and tending to her flower gardens. Gloria loved animals and found great joy in
watching the birds and wildlife around her home. She especially treasured family
gatherings and looked forward to Sunday dinners surrounded by those she
loved.
She was a longtime member of the Alfred W. Maxwell Jr. Auxiliary in Winthrop,
where she enjoyed many years of community involvement.
Gloria is survived by her sons, Kenneth J. Lucas Jr. and his wife Elizabeth of
Benton, Lawrence D. Lucas and his wife Sandra of Readfield, David A. Lucas and
his wife Kimberly of Mount Vernon, and Peter D. Lucas and his wife Julie of
Readfield; her daughters, Pamela A. Blattel and her husband Mark of Milton,
Delaware, Nancy P. Cornell and her husband Robert of Augusta, Lisa M. Lucas of
Readfield, and Mary E. Bridges of Winthrop; 17 grandchildren; and 24
great-grandchildren; her brothers Robert of Gardiner,Mike and Greg of Pittston
She was predeceased by her parents; husband Kenneth; her daughter, Amy; and
her siblings, Sue, Connie, and Bud.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at
MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Long Term Care at Glenridge, as well as
MaineGeneral Hospice, for their compassionate care and support.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at East
Readfield Cemetery, Plains Road, Readfield, Maine, where she will be laid to rest
beside her husband. Immediately following the service a reception will be held at
the American Legion, Alfred W. Maxwell Post 40 in Winthrop.
