Augusta, ME ~ Harold "Jake" Magee, 78, passed away on November 3rd, 2013 in Augusta.
He was born in Boston, Massachusetts on March 8, 1935, the son of John and Mary (Welch) Magee.
He grew up in Readville, Massachusetts until 1977, when he moved to Maine. He was a tool and die maker by trade and then was involved in the early development of computer testing equipment with RCA. The remainder of his career was with Digital Equipment, serving as a Facilities Manager of the Digital Equipment plant in Augusta. He retired there in 1995.
Golf was Jake's retirement passion. Over the years he played and coached softball, hockey (as a goalie) and bowling. In his younger years, Jake was an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing trips.
He loved his pet dogs and cat.
As the youngest of a large Irish family of ten, seven of whom served in the military, Jake was most proud of his service to his country as a Medic in the Army.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cynthia (Carrara) Magee; three sons, Michael, Edward and his wife, Laura, and Joseph; seven grandchildren, Jered, Tara, Meghan, Matthew, Jacob, Vincent(".") and Patrick, and one great grand child, Rosie.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10:00 – 11:00am on Thursday, November 7th, at Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop, where a memorial celebration of Jake's life will follow the visitation at 11:00. At 2:00pm, a graveside committal service with full military honors will be at the NEW Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta.
