Obituary

READFIELD - Harold C. 'Hal' Scheidler, 89, of Stanley Road died Saturday, June 26, 2010, at his home. Hal was born in New Britain, Conn., on Sept. 26, 1920, the son of Harold and Elizabeth Fern (Hardor) Scheidler. He grew up in New Britain and served in the Navy during World War II, having trained as a torpedo man and serving on PT boats. He married Frances I. Anderson in August 1941. They lived in Connecticut and often traveled to events in the New York City area. Hal worked as a real estate agent and also wrote songs for a living. After moving to Maine, he worked for Carlton Woolen Mills as an accountant. They raised a daughter, Gail, the light of their lives, who died on July 7, 2006. Harold was thankful for the people who had made the end of his life more comfortable and enjoyable ... his angels. He is survived only by his wife, Fran, of Readfield. There will be no services at this time. Burial will be in East Readfield Cemetery. Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop 04364. Condolences to the family may be made to www.khrfuneralhomes.com.
