AUGUSTA - Harriet Hillier Bryne, 84, of Augusta passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007. She was the daughter of Wilfred and Harriett Hillier and attended Cony High School, graduating in 1942. Harriet worked in the payroll department in the Hazzard Shoe Company office from 1944 to 1945. She also was employed at the Augusta Chamber of Commerce in the late 1960s. This was in addition to raising a family and taking care of a home. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church, Augusta. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Herbert H. Bryne Jr. They were married on July 6, 1944. She also is survived by two sons, their wives and five grandchildren, Kerry and Lori Bryne of Sheboygan, Wis., and their children, Dylan, Patrick and Nora, and Stanley C. and Sue Bryne of Chelsea, and their children, Robert and Shelby; four brothers, William Hillier and his wife, Marion, Robert Hillier and his wife, Florence, Lewis Hillier and his wife, Ivy, and Gordon Hillier and his wife, Barbara; and several nieces and nephews. Visiting will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta, where a funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27. The Rev. Elizabeth Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Hallowell Cemetery, Hallowell. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
