Greene- Hazen L. Smiley, 90, of River Road, died peacefully on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, following an extended illness. Hazen was born in Augusta, Maine on June 26, 1935, the son of the late Alvin M. and Katherine (Taylor) Smiley. Hazen was never one to be afraid of work. Most of his career was spent driving truck for the U.S. Postal Service, Distribution Company and Poultry Farms, a career which spanned more than forty years, retiring in 1996. On September 13, 2008, he married Donna Field at the Greene Baptist Church. In his spare time Hazen enjoyed hunting, fishing, going for long rides and more recent years mowing the lawn on his new Zero Turn Lawn Mower. Hazen was predeceased by a sister, Arlene Gotreau; a stepson, James A. Gower. He is survived by his wife, Donna R. Smiley of Greene; a brother, George Smiley of Greene; a sister, Patricia Gelinas of Hallowell; two stepdaughters, Kelly and Paul Sirois of Greene, Tammy and Jim Dow of Livermore; a stepson, Craig and Denise Libby of Greene; two grandchildren, Travis and Tasha; three great grandchildren, Calee, Cash and Maxwell A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
