NEWPORT- Heber Asbury Ryder, age 71, passed peacefully on Saturday, November 20, 2021 listening to sounds of Elvis Presly and surrounded by his family.
Heber was born in Bangor on March 2, 1950. He graduated from Hermon High School and joined the Military in 1971. He proudly and honorably served for 20 years with the Maine Army National Guard as a Motor Transport Operator and earned his million-mile achievement while driving 18 wheelers coast to coast.
Heber was predeceased by his parents, Erwin Ira Ryder and Margaret Irene (Spencer) Ryder.
He is survived by his sister Linda Ryder, his brother Dennis Ryder, his life partner Shereen Ryder, his three daughters Crystal Ryder, Felicia Ryder and Heather O'Neal, his six grandchildren and close friend Miranda Schmidt.
When not exploring the Country behind a wheel he enjoyed farming, rocking out to Elvis Presley tunes and helping people. He will forever be loved and remembered as a kind and gentle soul who gave all he had for those he loved.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
