GARDINER ? Helen C. Abbott, 86, died Tuesday, April 29, 2003, at Robinson's Health Care Facility in Gardiner. She was born in Vassalboro on March 5, 1917, the daughter of George and Daisy (Robbins) Cox. Helen was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1934. She had worked at D.W. Adams and Hussey Hardware in Augusta before retiring in 1982. She was predeceased by her husband, John L. Abbott, in 1973. She is survived by her son, Gary Abbott, of Hallowell; a brother, Melvin Cox and his wife Estella of Augusta; a brother-in-law, Walter Abbott of Augusta; niece Suzanne Sullivan of Veazie; nephew Timothy Abbott of Winthrop; great-nieces Christine Sullivan and Nicole Sullivan; and great-nephews Mark Sullivan and William Abbott. There will be no visiting or services at this time. Burial will be in Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
