Obituary

Augusta- Helene G Boucher 93, passed away peacefully on June 16,2026 at the Maine Veterans Home in Augusta.

She was born July 30, 1932, the daughter of Wilfred & Eva (Rousseau) Cormier. One of 5 siblings, Helene graduated from Cony High School. She married Lionel O Boucher on June 1, 1953, and together they raised 5 children. Besides being a homemaker, Helene held several jobs throughout her life. She made rosary beads to be sent to other countries. She was a strong believer in her Catholic faith & helping others. After retiring, she and Lionel delivered meals on wheels for senior citizens. Helene was a communicant of St.Augustine Church and the Togus VA Medical Center Chapel where she maintained the priest’s vestments and altar linens for many years. Helene was a member of the Ladies of St.Anne

She and Dad were members of the Pine Cone Reelers Square Dance Group. She took pride in creating and making all the outfits they wore at these events. She and Dad spent many weekends dancing at the Le Club Calumet with family & friends. She loved to watch sports whether it be the Red Sox, Patriots or following all the grandchildren around to attend their games. She was always ready to play cribbage with anyone anytime. She also loved playing and winning at Bingo.

She was predeceased by her husband Lionel O Boucher, brothers Lionel, Harold and Jim Cormier, sister Mary Jane Morin, great niece Michelle Duncan Shaw.

Helene is survived by her children, sons; Patrick and David Boucher, daughters; Monique Morin and husband Richard, Susan Boucher, Ann Beaulieu and husband Steve, 11 Grandchildren 18 Great Grandchildren. Niece Helene Duncan.

Relatives and friends may visit July 8, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.Augustine Church in Augusta July 9, 2026, at 10 a.m. Committal will be10 a.m. July 15, 2026, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Augusta.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Maine Veterans’ Home for their compassionate care and kindness.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Helene’s memory to the Special Olympics of Maine or Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
