Augusta-Jacquline Alva (Manzer) Treadwell passed away peacefully on August 1, 2024 at Gray Birch Nursing Home. She had been a much-loved resident there since December of 2022.
Jacqueline was born on October 28, 1932 in Ipswich, MA. to Fred and Cynthia Manzer. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 47-years, Richard Treadwell. As a young girl, her parents settled in Waldoboro, ME. After high school, Jacquline raised seven wonderful children who were the heart of her. She was selfless, loving, and a hard worker, who put herself through nursing school (with grit and tenacity) at Eastern Maine Medical Center, where she became an LPN. Jackie and Richard also were Property Managers for several Inns, and Motels from Maine to Florida.
She treasured her simple life and filled it to the brim with love and laughter. She had an angelic voice and was an extraordinary yodeler. When Richard retired, he and Jackie traveled to many places, and had incredible adventures, in Maine and in Florida. Every year at Christmas, they gifted each other a season pass to Busch Gardens in Tampa. They walked the park every day, taking in the sights, and scenes and particularly enjoyed the botanical gardens. Every year in October, they enjoyed going to the Fryeburg fair in Maine, where they loved watching the people, listening to music and eating the Bloomin' Onions!
Eventually (in 2005) Jackie and Richard settled permanently in the town of Hallowell, ME. Jackie loved the simple life, almost as much as she loved Richard and her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, and spending time with family.
She leaves behind her very large family and her greatest treasures. Robert Heyer and his wife Jeanine from Zephyr Hills, FL. Richard Heyer and his partner, Kathy, from Augusta, ME. Rhonda West, (predeceased) from Augusta, ME. Rita Pierce from Randolph, ME. Randall Heyer from Windsor, ME. Rebecca Ferris and her husband Dean, from Windham, ME. Russell Heyer and his wife Laurie, from Windsor, ME. She also leaves behind two step-daughters, Lisa Purcell and her husband Joel, from AZ and Terry Gallagher and her husband Ray, from Bangor, ME. Jackie leaves behind a multitude of Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, Great Great Grandchildren, Nieces and Nephews.
Her family will miss her deeply but will lift their eyes and ears to Heaven hoping to catch her beautiful voice in the clouds above.
Arrangements are under the direction of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church Street, Augusta, ME. To view Jackie's memorial page, or to share an online condolence, please visit www.KHRFuneralHomes.com
