MT. VERNON - James Leo Poirier, 30, of Mt. Vernon, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2001 at his home. He was born December 30, 1970, in Augusta, the son of Joseph D. and Mary Jeanne (Poulin) Poirier. He grew up in the Readfield area and graduated from Maranacook Community High School in 1989. Leo worked as a laborer for John Cushing Construction. Leo enjoyed painting, drawing, playing his harmonica, singing, and dancing. He loved spending time with his children. Mr. Poirier is survived by, his wife, Crystal (Potter) Poirier; his mother, Jeanne Poirier; a son, Jared Poirier; a daughter, Jasmine Potter; two brothers, Ray Poirier, of Waldoboro, and Donald Poirier, of Aberdeen, MD; an uncle, Roger Poulin, of Augusta; cousins, Roger Poulin, Jr. and Scott Poulin, both of Gardiner; and a niece, Kayla Poirier, of Pennsylvania. Relatives and friends may gather at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, in Winthrop, on Friday, Oct. 26, from 2 to 4 p.m. for a time of remembrance. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Potter-Clark Memorial Fund, 108 Cross Hill Road, Vassalboro, ME 04989, the Maine Children’s Home for Little Wanderers 11 Mulliken Ct., Augusta 04330, or the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, Pet Haven Lane, Augusta, ME 04330.
