READFIELD- Janet Louise LaPlante passed away with her spirit shining through the rainbows on October 22, 2025 at Woodlands Memory Care of Lewiston Maine after a long struggle with dementia. She was born February 23,1943 in Bristol Connecticut but was raised near the beautiful Lake Champlain in Westport New York.
She met her love Walter LaPlante in New York; they moved to Maine together where they continued to build their family. Janet worked for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Maine Veterans' Home in Augusta, caring for the elderly with the warmest and kindest heart; it truly was her calling.
Her compassion extended beyond her patients at work and into the lives of so many people that were blessed with her presence. She walked proudly in her faith as a beloved child of God and Jesus Christ, following in the faithful footsteps of her mother Ruth.
Janet found so much joy in music, always ready to dance, laugh and share a good time with family and friends. She never missed a chance to toast to life's blessings, often with a glass of wine or a little tequila in hand and a smile on her face.
She lovingly leaves behind her daughter Tina Keech, her son Todd LaPlante, and her son Terry LaPlante and his wife Joyce.
Nana's grandchildren; Tyler Beck, Brooke Beck, Christopher LaPlante, Jordan Whitenack and her husband Matt, Colby LaPlante, Halee Otting and her husband Cody, and Blair Final.
Nana's great grandchildren; Summer LaPlante, Odin LaPlante, Huxon Beck, Walter Otting, Leighton Otting, Arlo Purington and Lennon Purington.
Her brother Kenneth Lawrence, his wife Kay and her sister-in-law Carol Keech.
Janet also leaves beloved bonus family members; Donna Allen and her husband Rick, Nate Snyder, Jessica Harris, James Palmer, Vicki Bohannon, Robert Keech II, Jason Keech, Tammy Snyder and so many additional extended family members and friends.
She was welcomed in heaven by her mother Ruth and father Kenneth Lawrence, her brother Robert Keech, her aunt Bea and Janet's ex-husband Walter LaPlante.
Janet's joyful memory will continue to live on within the hearts of those she has cherished and loved so dear. Though Nana has danced her last dance here on earth, her spirit now soars free joyful, radiant and surrounded by eternal love and light.
A Celebration of Life will be set at a later date.
