Obituary

WINTHROP- Jason A. Steele, 51, died on Monday, May 9, 2022, at his home in Winthrop unexpectedly after a brief illness. He was born on November 21, 1970, in Lewiston, Maine, the son of Gerald Steele and Barbara (Gandy) Steele. He attended schools in Winthrop and married Bonnie S. Ward on July 29, 1988. He was a self-made man that worked at Tex-Tech in Monmouth, McGee Construction in Gardiner, and was self-employed as a very talented equipment operator, mechanic, and contractor. He had a very big heart and would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need without being asked or looking for anything in return except for any sweet baked goods that were offered. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, raising farm animals, and "working the farm" with special friend and honorary family member, Kevin Cobb. Time with family meant the most to him and was something he cherished very much. Anyone who knew him loved him and enjoyed his sense of humor. Jason had a remarkable way of always putting a smile on your face even when you didn't think it was possible. Jason is survived by parents, Gerald and Barbara Steele of Winthrop; his wife, Bonnie Steele; a step-daughter, Sarah Childs; step-son, Darrell Childs and his wife Liz; son, Kyle Steele and his partner Chris Gagne; grandson, Alex Childs; granddaughter, Abby Childs; his sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Bill Vickerson; brother, Mark Steele; brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Darlene Steele; sister and brother-in-law, Becky and Bob Ouellette; and brother and sister-in-law Jamie and Sandy Steele; many nieces, nephews that he profoundly touched their lives in many wonderful ways. He was also survived by special friends Roy and Darren Weymouth along with many other close friends that he has shared wonderful memories with. Jason's visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022 from 4pm to 6 pm at Roberts Funeral Home and Cremation Care, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop where memories and condolences may be shared at www.khrfuneralhomes.com His burial will be private and held at a later date.
