WINTHROP-Jean Carol Greeleaf, 83, of Winthrop died Friday, June 3, 2022 at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. Jean was born in Augusta on November 26, 1938 the daughter of Alfred E. and Arlene M. (Tripp) Allen. She attended school in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 1957. That same year she was married and that marriage lasted over 20 years. In 1978 she married Herschel E. Greenleaf, Jr. and they enjoyed life and worked together in their cleaning business J & H Cleaning. After Herschel's death in 2011, Jean continued to work in the business. Jean also worked for Wilson's Department Store in Winthrop and ran a daycare in her home for over ten years. She enjoyed knitting, sewing, and garage sales. Jean was predeceased by her parents, husband Herschel E. Greanleaf, Jr., brother Billy Allen, and sisters Barbara Young and Mary Blanchard. She is survived by her adopted family Caroline and Larry Ridley of Winthrop and their two children Jason Ridley of Augusta and Felicia Rogers of Lewiston; sister-in-law Beverly Allen of New York; close friends Joanne and Jim Schwartz and Kim Withee, all of Winthrop and Joyce Woodward of Augusta; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. A celebration of Jean's life will be held Monday, June 27, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery Chapel, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta.
