Winthrop- Jean Y. Smith, "Nan" 82, of Winthrop passed away at home on November 11, 2023. She is the wife of the late Darryl "Bamp" Smith with whom she shared 50 loving years together. Nan was born in Dover-Foxcroft on March 29th, 1941, the daughter of Charles and Myrtle (Wheaton) Davis. She lived for many years on her farm in Winthrop, Maine. Jean worked at Wilsons Dollar Store for several years and previously worked at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Bill and Dot's Diner and the Winthrop Transfer Station. What she enjoyed most was visiting with her family as well as doing crafts, being in her gardens, snowmobiling and traveling to watch the animal pulling events. She is survived by her Brothers Gordon Davis and his wife Dianne and Darrell Davis, Robert Davis, her sisters Louise Strickind, and Pam Trubersty, Cousin Brenda Quiet. Nan was also survived by her Stepdaughter Norma Walsh. Her Grandchildren Erica Gray, Jason Shaw, Brady, Eric and Jessie Kaherl, and Johanna Blais. Her Great Grandchildren Ava and Nash, Katie, Jessica, Michael Kaherl, James McCallister and William Blais. Also survived by her Aunt Elsie London. Her former Son-In-Law Bradley Kaherl and his wife Annie. There will be no service held at this time. There will be a small celebration of life held in the Spring or Summer of 2024.
