AUGUSTA ? Jennie M. Leavitt, 88, of Augusta, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Fieldcrest Manor, in Waldoboro. Jennie was born in Boston, April 28, 1913, the daughter of Ellen Peters. She moved to the Augusta area at a young age. She was a graduate of Cony High School. She was married to Ray B. Leavitt. Mrs. Leavitt worked at Hit or Miss in Augusta until her retirement. She had lived at Fieldcrest Manor for only a short while. Jennie was predeceased by her husband in 1994, and her only son, Robert A. Leavitt, in 1998. She is survived by her three grandsons, Robert Leavitt of Damariscotta, Raymond Leavitt of Cocoa Beach, Fla., and Brian Leavitt of Daytona, Fla.; a granddaughter, Lori Budd of Nobleboro; a sister, Charlotte Verrier of Westbrook; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. There will be a graveside service at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland on Thursday, Feb. 21 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta.
