Jerry Sandidge passed away on August 20th after a brief illness. For 79 years he was a devoted son,
husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A child of the South, Jerry loved his lakeside home in
his adopted village of Wayne. There, he and his beloved wife Joan of 54 years raised and educated two
daughters. He loved spending time with his family and watching the generations grow. Notable for his
ready laugh and his politically astute humor, Jerry loved entertaining and hosting friends and family on
his deck sitting above Androscoggin Lake. He loved bridge and spent many hours playing and teaching.
Jerry and Joan were avid travelers. They went all over the country spending time in all 50 states. They
were always seeking out new places to visit and explore. He loved his "summer only" vintage blue Miata
and "winter only" walks on Myrtle Beach. He and Joan lived a life of devotion, humor, keen intellect and
discovery.
Jerry is a graduate of East Tennessee State where he earned his Bachelor's of Science.
He spent a good deal of his professional life at Sears and had many great tales of his adventures there.
Jerry is predeceased by his parents JC and Eleanor Sandidge. He is survived by his wife Joan Fancy
Sandidge of Wayne; daughter Sonya Jean Sandidge of Scarborough; daughter Misty Favreau and her
children Laura Favreau and Parker Favreau all of Wayne and three great granddaughters.
Jerry's friends share this loss and will be invited to join the family for a Celebration of Jerry's Life at a
future date.
The Sandidge family thanks the outstanding staff of CMMC and Androscoggin Home Health for the fine
care provided.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Cary Memorial Library, as Jerry was an avid
reader.
