AUGUSTA - On Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008, Jill Crystal Griffin, 42, went to be with the Lord. She died quietly in her home after a long and heroic battle with breast cancer. Born in Augusta, on June 27, 1965, Jill is survived by her devoted husband, Chris, who stood by her and comforted her throughout her journey. She is also survived by her parents, Mavorite and Franklin Sargent, of Highland Plantation; brother Scott Sargent and his wife, Joann, of Gardiner, and their children, Erin and Alissa; sister Dawn Davis and her husband, Raymond, of Washington, and their children, Travis, Jerred and Katelyn; her sister-in-law, Bedah Sargent, of Augusta; her children, Rebecca and Mia; and her dog, Ramsey. She was predeceased by her brother, Kim Sargent. Jill was a graduate of Cony High School, class of 1983, and Mid State College, class of 1993. She was an insurance agent and claims specialist at Cross Insurance of Augusta for 101/2 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Hallowell, where she was a Sunday school teacher and member of Martha's Circle. Jill was passionate about sharing her life with Chris. Whether renovating her childhood home or enjoying the peacefulness of a quiet evening, Jill and Chris relished their time together. She adored her family and friends and was always brimming with love. There will be no public visiting hours. A service to celebrate Jill's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, at First Baptist Church of Hallowell, with the Rev. Michael Longfellow officiating. Family and friends are invited to a reception at Church Hill Baptist Church, Augusta, following the celebration of life. Private internment services, with pastor Peter Edgecomb officiating, will be at Lexington Flat Cemetery at a later date. The family would especially like to thank the staff and volunteers from HealthReach Hospice and Volunteers of Kennebec Valley, Dr. Moran and his staff, Kennebec Professional Pharmacy, the staff at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care, and the Augusta Living with Breast Cancer Group, for the special care and support Jill received.
