WAYNE ~ Joan (Johanna) Chellis, 67, of Wayne, died Friday October 27, 2017 at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. Joan was born in Augusta, November 12, 1949 the daughter of Peter Lansing, MD and Carolyn (Osgood) Lansing. She was a graduate of Cony High School and the University of Maine, Orono. Joan became an accomplished fabric artist, making quilts and wall-hangings often times from her own painted fabrics. Her work has been shown all over New England and she was known for her strong sense of color. She was also an avid reader. Joan was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her husband, William “Bill Chellis, of Wayne; her aunt, Ruth Gallagher, of Scarborough and two cousins. A memorial celebration of Joan’s life will be held at Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin Street, Winthrop, Saturday November 11, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Cary Memorial Library, P.O.
