AUGUSTA—Joan Gestwicki, 77, of Augusta, died Thursday April 23, 2020 due to cancer at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta. She was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts November 20, 1942 the daughter of the late Czeslaw "Chester" and Michalina "Mildred" (Pizenna) Grabowski. Joan grew up in Malden MA and was a graduate of Malden High. She lived for many years in Billerica MA and worked for MACOM in Burlington MA before moving to Venice FL, where she worked as a receptionist for the Venice Golf and Country Club until 2002, when she moved to Maine. She enjoyed walking the Rail Trail in Augusta where she befriended other regular walkers, and also, drives to Boothbay Harbor to take boat rides and enjoy the coast. Joan is survived by her son Christopher Gestwicki of Los Angeles, CA, her daughter, Annette Gestwicki of Sidney, ME and her fiancee Mark Maheu, her grandson Nicolas Gestwicki, also of Sidney ME, and her beloved granddog, Nero, as well as several nephews and nieces, cousins and dear friends. She is predeceased by her son William Gestwicki and her grandson Barry Gestwicki and also by her brothers, Robert and Walter Grabowski and her sister Caroline Hanabury.
