WINTHROP - Joan Meader Hills, 71, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 16, 2008. She was born in Eastport on January 11, 1937, the daughter of Harold and Katherine (Arata) Meader. Joan was a graduate of Cony High School. She became a Registered X-ray Technician through her education at Augusta General Hospital, working in hospitals in Maine and Massachusetts. She was predeceased by her husband, Marshall Hills. Survivors include her three children, Mark Cameron & his wife, Jean, of Appleton, Wisconsin, Thomas Cameron of Winthrop and Kellie Cameron & her husband, Michael Galouch, of Readfield; one brother, Harold Meader & his wife, Charlotte, of Augusta; four sisters, Iva DeToma & her husband, Lou, of Virginia, Theresa Judkins & her husband, William, of Portland, Gerry Stanley of Southwest Harbor and Maryann Tartre of Biddeford; four grandchildren, Bryan and Melissa Cameron of Appleton, Wisconsin, Katie Millett & her fianc?, Miah Clark, of East Winthrop, and Ben Millett of Winthrop; and her very special great granddaughter, Kallie Clark. At Joan?s request, there will be no visiting hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21st at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, Winthrop, with Rev. William Modlin celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Mary?s Cemetery, Manchester. For those who wish, donations in Joan?s memory may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southern Maine, P.O. Box 7830, Portland, ME 04112.
