WAYNE - John H. Hanson of Wayne died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.
He was born in Rockport, Mass., Nov. 3, 1923, the son of Oscar and Clara (Borgstrom) Hanson.
He grew up in Rockport and was educated there. He entered the Army and served during World War II.
After the war, John was employed for many years as a plumber. He lived in Hyde Park and Roslindale, Mass., and later settled in Abington, Mass. Later in life, he was self-employed as a plumber and was the plumbing inspector for the town of Rockport. He retired in 1990 and moved to Wayne to be with his daughter.
John enjoyed hunting with his son-in-law, Scott Bailey; fishing; reading; and watching sporting events on television.
Mr. Hanson is survived by three daughters, Donna J. Bailey and her husband, Scott, of Wayne, Gail M. Anderson of Plymouth, Mass., and Christine A. Joly and her husband, Michael, of Barnstead, N.H.; six grandchildren, Beth Zacchini, Rebecca Anderson, Corey Henderson, Brian Henderson, Samantha A. Bailey and Scott C. Bailey; as well as several great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at noon Oct. 9 at Beech Grove Cemetery in Rockport, Mass. Burial will follow in the Hanson family lot.
Arrangements are in the care of Roberts Funeral Home, 62 Bowdoin St., Winthrop.
