Obituary

MANCHESTER- John H. Schrader "Jack," 80, passed away at Glenridge Rehabilitation & Long-Term Care on February 23, 2025. He was born in Elizabeth, NJ, on August 06, 1944, to the late Raymond H. Schrader and Claire (Buswell) Schrader. Jack graduated from Cony High School, class of 1962. Following high school, he went on to college and graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in 1967 with his Bachelors. Jack worked at Fort Western for a short period of time before going on to Digital where he worked for 18 years. Jack had a few other odd jobs and eventually retired in 2006. In his free time, Jack spent most of his time in his community. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels through Spectrum Generations for 15 years and KV Cap as a driver. He was Treasurer of the Manchester Historical Society, and the Cobbosseecontee Yacht Club. He gave blood through the American Red Cross for over 60 years and was presented the 2019 Blood Service Real Heroes Award in March 2019. Jack was also a ham radio operator (W1JHS) for 49 years, a member of The Augusta Amateur Radio Club and the Masonic Lodge in Augusta. He deeply enjoyed his time spent at the shooting range and was a member of the National Rifle Association of America. Jack is predeceased by his parents, sister, Sue and brother, Stan. He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Miller-Schrader, with whom he shared 37 years. He is also survived by his nephews, Stan, Steve, and Scott, and his special friend Jimmy Pray, along with several cousins and many friends. Per Jack's request, a graveside service will be held in the warmer months at Manchester Forks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to PALS No Kill Cat Shelter, 188 Case Rd. Winthrop, Maine 04364 or Shriners Children's Hospital, Office of Philanthropy, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607. His family would like to extend a special thanks to Maine General Hospital and Comfort Care at Glenridge for their excellent care and compassion in Jack's final days. Jack's graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd at 2PM at Manchester Forks Cemetery, Manchester. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
