AUGUSTA---Joseph M. Butler, 48, of Augusta passed away at his home on Wednesday June 9, 2021. He was born in Belfast, ME on September 27, 1972 the son of Michael and Elaine (Goslin) Butler. He grew up in the Belfast area and was educated in local schools. After high school, Joseph enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Desert Storm conflict. He was also very proud of the fact that he had earned his Bronze Star. After being discharged from the Army, Joseph returned back to Maine where he would reside in Augusta. Joseph was a member of both the VFW and American Legion. He will always be remembered for his love of spending time with his son, Brandon as well as his service dog, Vala. He will be deeply missed. Joseph is survived by his two sons; Brandon and Aaron Butler, his mother, Elaine Butler and his sister, Brandy and her husband Rich. He was predeceased by his father, Michael.
