MOUNT VERNON ~ Joseph Arthur Soucy , age 78 died unexpectedly Tuesday October 14,2014 at his home. He was born in Augusta on August 24th, 1936, the son of Albert J. Soucy and Edith Marie Cloutier. He was educated in the Augusta Schools. He served in the Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He moved to Mt. Vernon in 1969 and enjoyed his home. Joe started the Log & Chain and made many friends in the area. He enjoyed music and played many instruments. Mr. Soucy is survived by his wife of 54 years,, Theresa, one son Patrick Soucy of Waterville and his companion Melanie; 2 grandchildren Tabitha and Christopher; 1 step son Lucian and 3 great grandsons; one brother John from Mt. Vernon; 4 sisters Gloria Flemming and Theresa Smith of Augusta, Constance Bekim of Gardner and Rose Couture of Waterville. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Herman, Rene, George and Roger and 2 sisters Anne Marie Gagnon and Albertine Labbe and many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service with full military honors at the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta on Tuesday October 21st, 2014 at 12 noon.
