MANCHESTER ? Juanita Loop Neale, 86, of Manchester, died at her home Saturday Aug. 16, 2003. Mrs. Neale was originally from Salem, Va., where she grew up with eight brothers and sisters in a very close and loving family. She completed studies at Virginia Medical College as a Registered Nurse, graduated from Columbia University and then returned to Virginia to teach nursing at Virginia Medical College before she married. Her husband, George D. Neale, from Manchester died in 1994. Mrs. Neale was a dedicated mother who also had a professional career. After her children entered school, she owned and operated a nursing home. Later, she worked for the state of Maine in medical licensing and certification. Mrs. Neale and her husband were very involved in the formative years of the town of Manchester. She was a strong supporter of the new elementary school and the grange and was always committed to beneficial endeavors of the town. Mrs. Neale loved classical music, bridge and was a voracious reader. She delighted in political discussions with her friends and had a lighthearted, loving outlook on life. Mrs. Neale is survived by a son, Kip Neale of South Freeport; a daughter, Elizabeth Neale of Hinsdale, Mass.; four grandchildren, Mariana and Max Neale of South Freeport and Caitlin and Susannah Neale Pollock of Hinsdale, Mass. A private burial service will be held by the family. Friends may visit the family at the Neale home on Pond Road in Manchester from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Conte Community School Children's Fund, c/o Donald Taylor, Conte Community School, 200 West Union St., Pittsfield, MA 01201 or to the Manchester Grange. Arrangements are in the care of Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, One Church Street, Augusta.
