AUGUSTA ? Kenneth F. Butler, 66, of Augusta died unexpectedly at his home Friday, Jan. 10, 2003. He was born in Appleton, Aug. 26, 1936, the son of Leslie and Viola (Hawes) Butler. Ken served in the Army from 1954 to 1957. Upon returning to Maine, he worked for the state employment office for a time and then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a clerk. He retired in the early 1990s. Most recently, he worked at O'Connor GMC. Mr. Butler is survived by his wife, Yoshiko (Nakao) Butler; his brother, Walter Butler and his wife, Cecile; along with several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, with the Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow at the new Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105-1942.
