AUGUSTA - Kenneth B. Johnson, 93, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at MaineGeneral Rehabilitation and Nursing Care, Glenridge Drive, Augusta. He was born in Perry on March 18, 1912, the son of Charles and Katie (Boyden) Johnson. He graduated from Shedd Memorial High School in Eastport and from the University of Maine at Orono in 1933 with a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Zeta. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army 1st Infantry Division, and was a recipient of the Bronze Star. Ken had worked on farms and was a dairy inspector for the state of Maine from 1934 to 1950, when he became supervisor of the Maine Department of Agriculture until 1973. He then went to work as an inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the South Parish Congregational Church, Augusta Masonic Lodge and the Kora Shrine in Lewiston. Ken is survived by a brother, Philip Johnson and his wife, Lori, of Houston; nephews Kenneth Johnson of Mesquite, Texas, Ronald Johnson of Madison, Ala., and Robert Spaulding of Centerville, Va.; and a niece, Ellen Grant of Georgetown. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, at Knowlton and Hewins Funeral Home, 1 Church St., Augusta, where an 11 a.m. memorial service will take place. The Rev. Bruce Forbes, pastor of the South Parish Congregational Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Civic Center Drive, Augusta. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104.
