CHELSEA- Laurie A. Burgess Doody, 58, of Chelsea passed away unexpectedly on March 19, 2024. Laurie was born on February 17, 1966 to James and Virginia Burgess. She graduated from Hall Dale High School in 1984 and then attended the University of Maine at Augusta. She followed in her father's footsteps to become an accountant for the State of Maine. She went on to work in several different departments during her 36 years of employment. She married Joey Doody of Fairfield and they settled in Chelsea. Laurie enjoyed spending time at the Doody family camp for many years. She was an avid reader, especially Stephen King novels. She and her mother loved to go shopping and out to lunch together. She would join her brother Jeff's family for special events, parties and holiday gatherings where the two of them loved to repeat stories of the tortures they inflicted on each other as children. There were also a few legendary Christmas celebrations that were full of shenanigans, often sponsored by Jagermeister. Laurie is survived by her brother Jeff and his wife Leslie, her nieces Kendra and Morgan, her former husband Joey as well as several family members and friends. She was predeceased by her parents. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
