Winthrop-Laurie E. Lowden, 98, died Sunday, December 7, 2003, at Nicholson?s Longterm Care and Rehabilitation Center, Winthrop. She was born on April 18, 1905, in Mount Vernon, the daughter of Arthur W. and Alice C. (Lougee) Gasper. After her marriage, she and her husband lived nearly all of their married life in Winthrop. She was a member of the East Winthrop Baptist Church. She was employed for many years by the local woolen mills as a weaver. She loved to hook rugs, crochet afghans and bake, and was well known for her delicious molasses cookies. She also enjoyed walking and was often seen by neighbors taking her daily walks. Survivors include her daughter Pauline Drew and her husband Perry of Brewer and Bradenton Fla.; a daughter-in-law Joan Lowden Charette of Lewiston; four grandchildren, R. Charles ?Chuck? Lowden of Griswold, CT., Thomas Drew of Scarborough, Keith Drew of Caribou and Calla Burgess of Kittery; six great- grandchildren, Karen Bradford of Parsonburg, MD., Beth Lowden of Griswold, CT., Justin and Ashley Drew of Scarborough and Leah and Adam Drew of Caribou; also one great-great- grandchild Ryan Bradford of Parsonburg MD.; a cousin Freda Sawin of Hallowell; a special niece Darlene Carr of Monmouth, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph N. Lowden and a son Richard R. Lowden. There will be no visiting at this time. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Lakeview Cemetery on the Narrows Pond Road, Winthrop Center.
